Was that the most dramatic finale ever?? Umm..not really.
I could have called it.
I didn't watch any spoiler shows..but I knew he wouldn't end up with Becca.
And it wasn't because Becca acts like an Aritzia salesperson because she told how good Ari looked all the time. It's when Ari's whole family voted for Becca over Lauren after his family met both of them.
I'm not expert in love, but I am pretty good a dodging bullets.
When you're unsure and someone tells you what to do..what happens typically is the person does the opposite. Because nobody likes to be told what to do.
That and all the woman in Ari's family are blonde.
The family meetings didn't reveal much..except that Ari's dad kinda looks Neil Lane and likes to wear a blazer. The guy even put his blazer back on when they sat down at dinner.
Ari 's family visit with Lauren was typical. Lauren cried. Needed reassurance from his mom.
Becca's visit was also foreshadowing so much so it was eerie. All this mentioning of Lauren's name by everyone of Ari's family members!!! But they all seemed taken with Becca..maybe because she could hold a conversation and didn't cry. The family tried to bend it toward Becca with Ari...but my gut feeling was ..he's not going to take this shot.
Ari had a final date with Lauren. The hypoxia made Lauren open up and made Ari want her chase her all around Macchu Picchu. When I saw them on that date- the Usher song U got it bad came to mind " U got, u got it bad if you miss a day your without your friend your whole life's off track". He thought he was into Becca..and one day without sufficient oxygen and he's got it bad for Lauren. He was chasing Lauren all over the place and couldn't keep his hands off her.
Hopefully it was the high altitude..but it was likely due to limited vocabulary of both of them - but the best adjectives those two could come up with for Macchu Picchu was cool, insane and...amazing (of course).
Although Becca seemed like a Forerunner, my gut feels was that she was gonna have to back it up like a Tonka truck. They walked around in the rain, petted an Alpaca. Ari even tried to ask the Alpaca who he should pick. Becca complimented Ari incessantly. there was thunder on the date..like from meteorological conditions, not from any passion. There was a storm brewing.
Decision Day.
The girls seem to be ready super early, meanwhile Ari still is his budget-looking room with a view of a lot of tile rooftops. He finally gets outside and starts walking around the town trying to consult alpacas and find Neil Lane. Neil didn't seem to warm up to Ari that much. Maybe he sensed the ring would get returned. After so many seasons, maybe Neil gets a feeling too. Ari picks a large ring.
Lauren gets out of the vehicle first. In whitish, dress with a lot of tassels. The final journey to Ari seems rife with tripping obstacles, a series of mats , patches of grass and plenty of llamas are near the proposal site. Lauren says her speech and Ari shakes his head. There's a storm in Lauren's eyes. He says he figured out this morning that they weren't right for each other. Lauren is confused, yet still loves him. She cries on the journey back.
Becca is next. Her dress kind of looks like something a figure skater would wear with the clear fine mesh on the top and back..then it kinda looked unzipped. Likely more foreshadowing that she was about to become undone. Ari tells her he will pick her every day...more like every day for the next 60 days..and he proposes. they seem to do a lot yelling in that field/garden/llama patch.
They are engaged!!!
bbbbbuuuttttttt
the show goes on....to record the first ever uncut two-camera view recording (whah?)...a first ever on reality TV (if you believe everything you hear on TV). Ari has been having doubts..more like..he's been waking up and going to bed thinking about Lauren...and he thinks the longer he is with Becca the less of a chance he has with Lauren. Engagements generally mean that Ari. But to be fair, the guy was in an open relationship for months so this might have been an hard adjustment for him. He tells Becca..to be honest with her. Becca has listened to him and his inner conflict for so long and tried to be understanding. Very nice of her. She was devastated..and I think it's because she knew deep down that he wanted Lauren. She tried to give him a way out by saying "I know you have a lot of shit to figure out" to which Ari countered " I've put a lot of thought behind his"...so I think she knew then.
I thought it was lovely that she wanted him to be happy...But the guy did her a huge favour...if he's not sure-he's doing her a huge favour.
I wish I could tell Becca, it's not you , it's him. It really is him.
Was this the most dramatic season ever? I don't think so...I think Mesnick pulled this a few years ago:)
Well my 6 friends who read my blog..this has been a very dramatic, amazing journey with you all these 10 years of writing this rose report:)
The first reason I started watching this show was not really about the romance but was to get an idea of clothes would look good to look cute whilst hanging out at home. #truth. I still haven't figured that out yet. My outfit tonight is tights, a tank top with fruit on it and a red cardigan. It's definitely not #mansionready. I do think I could use a stylist.
Then I started to like this show...because dating is a journey and it is funny and dramatic. It can also be a bit of a mind eff if you let other people's opinions - guys or girls mess with your head. You're done. You melt down. You don't like yourself and because of that you do things unbeknownst to you that make other people not like you. Finally, relationships don't make you happy- you make yourself happy- so give yourself your own damn ose and love yourself first. xoxoxo
I'm going to end this blog on my 10 year blog-aversary....but you can still bet that
I (will always) LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!
